GAME IN THE BAG, WAIT WAIT WAIT....HOLE IN THE BAG...LOST THE GAME FROM THE BAG...........
What a way to start the 20/20 2009 season with some great batting, as the top 4 deliver with runs all around the ground placing us in a great position of defending 149 of 20 on a large uneven ground. We thought, game was in the bag....but correction, bowling hurt us - And I mean hurt us tremendously....We gave up 44 runs in the first 4 overs...Well, I can go on and on...But lets just look at some individual performances in batting order:

Chucky - 8.0 (Batting 2.5, Fielding 3, Bowling 1.5, Discretionary 1.0)
Welcome back Chucky in the batting department...Well scored 45 but disappointing that could not get his 50. Excellent catch from skyer of a shot sprinting behind the ball to dive and take it successfully. Bowling was, say - less than average as he could not be consistent as what to bowl, spin or fast-med. Went for some runs on some full tosses and needed to control his line and length, except the last over, was all over the place. Need improvement in your bowling Chucky...Overall - A GOOD game for you!
Dalip - 5.0 (Batting 2.0, Feilding 1.5, Bowling 0, Discretionary 1.5)
As usual going after every ball and after getting a few leading edges on huge swings, managed to score 27. Wrist was a problem in connecting cleanly, but nevertheless - its game time boy - No f#@%ing excuses. Fielding was hardly a problem as not much went his way. Time to show the squad what improvements you have made in the nets and get back to what you know best. Overall - An OK game for you!
Rishy - 7.5 (Batting 2.5, Feilding 2.5, Bowling 0, Discretionary 2.5)
What a welcome addition to the line-up at the top and taking over the irreplaceable Tiki. Went 1 down batting and showed the squad how to move the ball around for singles and boundries. Experience and the passion for the game showed in his running between the wickets. Excellent debut knock in your first game for the Titans Rishy - Keep it up! Kept well throughout the game, may be bending down & keeping the low ones cleanly is a challenge but I am sure in time that will be resolved as well. Overall - A GOOD game for you!
Rakesh - 3.0 (Batting 0.5, Feilding 1.5, Bowling 0, Discretionary 1.0)
It is always good to have talent such as Rakesh back in the squad after an extended absence due to health issues. Nevertheless, batted 2nd down and got out to good yorker. With his batting style those should be easy to defend or glance away, but since he has just returned, practice should be priority to get back in it to win it. Fielding was par as could have given a little extra on the throws with accuracy and maybe even attempted couple of tough catches of Bala's bowling. Overall, A NOT SO GOOD return but he can only go up form here.
Tanmay - 7.5 (Batting 2.5, Feilding 1.5, Bowling 2.5, Discretionary 1.0)
CONGRATS SKIP ON YOUR NEW ASSIGNMENT - BEST OF LUCK!
Had a good game with lots of highlights...Excellent batting making 30 odd by excellent running between the wickets towards the end overs to maximize total. Great bowling numbers which played a major role in stretching a fast opposition start to the last over of the game. One minor fielding error at square leg of letting go the ball between his legs. But at that stage even a minor error can be costly. Regardless, very good first game as Captain...Should have converted this game to a win with some better bowling decisions at the top. Overall - A Good debut for the skip!
Shree Bala Ji - 5.5 (Batting 0.5, Feilding 2.0, Bowling 2.0, Discretionary 1.0)
Was given a chance to score quickly and show his natural ability to hit the big shots, but was disappointing as he got run out. Bowling was good and as always he can improve by being more consistent with his good deliveries. We all know he can bowl, but it is upto him to make a difference and set an example for the young players how to bowl consistently under pressure. As always , Bala's speed, both while running between the wickets and on the field, is his biggest asset. Overall - An OK game for you!
Reddy - 3.0 (Batting 1.0, Feilding 2.0, Bowling 0.0, Discretionary 0.0)
A good prospect with lots of talent. We have high expectations from you Reddy but you have DELIVER my boy! Every chance you get to play as a Titan in a season game, should be one you should play with a lot of heart and determination to perform. Your bowling truthfully - SUCKED. Its not nice but the truth and I know you can handle it. Get back in the nets and use your drive for the game, especially for your bowling to get better with ever delivery that leaves your hand. On a positive not, great running towards the end in supporting Tanmay maximize runs. Safe pair of hands in the field as he took a crucial catch to dismiss Eifel....Overall - A NOT SO GOOD game for you, buddy boy.
Umair - 5.0 (Batting 0.0, Feilding 2.0, Bowling 0.0, Discretionary 3.0)
Again, here we have a good talent with bat for the team. In this game he did not get a chance to show his stuff with the bat but we have high expectations from you in the games to come. Took a relatively easy catch of Paul's bowling but was a little slow in recovering the ball on other opportunities including his reurn throw to the keeper. Need to build up some strength in those arms my young "Skeletor", or else it will only get tougher from here. Overall - An OK game for you!
Paul - 6.0 (Batting 0.0, Feilding 1.5, Bowling 2.0, Discretionary 2.5)
The DICK is still the DICK but thank God Tanmay had the reins today - lol. Nevertheless, did not get a chance to perform with the bat today, but has been looking promissing in the nets with agreessive stroke plays. Fielding overall could have been much better if he would have held on to a challenging catch on the boundry. Could have possibly changed the outcome of the game as the dropped catch resulted in a 4. In the bowling arena, had mixed bag of tricks as he took 3 wickets in his spell but also got dispatched for a few boundries of good and bad deliveries. Overall - Expected more from the X-Skip, but was NOT A GOOD game for him.
Gowtham - 6.5 (Batting 0.0, Feilding 2.0, Bowling 2.5, Discretionary 2.0)
Young and upcoming player who has shown a lot of promise with his all-rounder abilities. LACKS FOCUS but in today's game bowled well under pressure and looked good in the field as well. Very good throwing arm, just needs to pay attention with what the runners are doing on each end to give him some runout opportunities prior to throwing back. Overall - A GOOD show but play the game on its merit and try to maximize your abilities in every aspect of the game.
Vedere - 6.5 (Batting 0.0, Feilding 2.5, Bowling 1.5, Discretionary 2.5)
Another good talent with the bowl. Leg spin is an art that is hard to master, but only a few have the ability to consistently deliver. Akhil - you do and with practice and focus, you might turn out to be one of the better spinners we have seen in a while. This game you were given an opportunity to bowl one (1) over of which you conceded 10+ odd runs. Not a bad effort, but concentrate on your line and forget about your last delivery by focusing on what you are about to bowl. You slow pace and the occassional turn are your assets that you need to polish. Looking good in the feild and you too have a good arm. Overall - A GOOD game for you in the field.
THANKS to Dilshan (12) and Walty (13) for always being there to encourage and support the teams effort.
GAMES LIKE THIS ARE A TOUGH ONE TO SWALLOW BUT WE CAN LEARN MORE FROM THEM AND FORGE AHEAD TO THE NEXT CHALLENGE.....GREAT SHOWING BY THE YOUNGSTERS - JUST REMEMBER, CRICKET IS A PASSION WE ALL SHARE BUT IT IS HOW YOU USE IT ON THE FIELD SETS YOU APART FROM THE REST.
